Two Types of Burnout

 

Stress is Real, Symptoms Are Real, Trust Your Body

Burnout is just another way of describing a body that is under immense stress.

We’ve typically experienced or witnessed burnout present as a result of overdoing, busyness, and frantically moving from one point to the next. But did you know that under-doing, underwhelm & stagnation, are also symptoms of burnout? 

Energy always has equal but opposite expressions and when stress hides in the body, each of us experiences it differently.

How Stress Appears in The Body

Stress, caused by various internal and external pressures, has the ability to completely alter our body physically, emotionally & even chemically. Imagine your body as this intelligent antenna traversing multiple planes of existence at once. Doing all these incredible things and you’re here learning to decode its messages. Many of these messages get lost in translation but mostly because they’re being filtered through an acquired sense of self- A borrowed persona that at one point you had to accept as true to be loved, accepted, or praised.

We go on to wage war with our thoughts, body & spirits. Adventuring on pilgrimages of complete ego annihilation. Falling into bouts of self-doubt, denial & ultimately identity fragmentation. It’s incredibly hard to create anything (lasting) from this state.

Through my own personal burnout year,(yes Generators burn out hard), I experienced severe body issues, mysterious ailments & chronic symptoms. I was so burned out my body was afraid of rest. I couldn’t think clearly, brain fog descended & a low point was imminent.

When I finally did lean into rest, I had fallen so far deep that it was difficult to reawaken the pulse of purpose in my veins. But here’s the beautiful thing about staying eager to hear, even when we ignore the guidance of our body, it doesn’t punish us, it just gets louder.

Nontypical symptoms of burnout in this repressive nature are sneaky. They slowly drain the body of life force energy & often masquerade as:

  • feelings of inadequacy (not knowing enough)

  • afflicted apprehension (not being ready/trusting)

  • little to no momentum (fear of planning or taking action)

  • spiraling shame (shoulding instead of being)

  • complete mind chaos (stress actually shrinks the brain)


How Can I Build a Business Without Burning Out?

Burnout doesn’t have to be the thing that catalyzes you into a pivot. You can willingly go, and make that change. Additionally, holistic success isn’t only for a select few, although this desire will require you to re-write what prosperity, success, health & abundance mean to you- your life + business.

If living from your purpose but not creating a business around it isn’t for you, let it go. Enjoy your expression in whatever form it chooses to come through as. If building a sustainably resourced business inspired by your purpose sounds fun & something that feels like a true calling, then go full force but note, personal health isn’t a bonus anymore, it’s a requirement. You’ll have to raise your standards of well-being. 

As creators, artists, and entrepreneurs choosing to share our gifts, there will be times when we’ll wear multiple hats. But this doesn’t have to equate to burnout or extended periods of confined stress. Make the decision to not compromise your well-being for anything & your focus will shift towards holistic attunement, again & again. If something in your life or business isn’t meeting your standards anymore, permission to shift.

Restoring our purpose, power & sense of self is a lifelong practice. This journey calls for honest check-ins & consistent refinements. 

  1. LEARN YOUR ENERGY: (Human Design, Astrology, Genekeys, Numerology Year) Where are you bypassing your wants? Not needs, wants. You want to pivot into a new direction that gives you full body tingles but where are you hiding by getting lost in the details? Find evidence that you’re equipped.

  2. FEEL INTO YOUR BODY: Listen for pleasure & pain. What are these sensations trying to tell you on the most basic level? If the sensation feels good, go, feel bad, pause. When was the last time you moved your body with no other intention than to be inside your body? Taking up space, looking around. A burnt-out body is quiet but still talks, even if it’s a whisper.

  3. CULTIVATE DISCERNMENT: Triple-check this. Who have you found yourself around? Is it feeding comparison or inspiration? What conversations are you making a priority? Is it dispelling or feeding the fears? When we begin to Energy Fast, our discernment becomes much clearer & more precise.

A high standard of well-being centers on wisdom but mostly the awareness to care for ourselves more than we used to.
